Student Registration Question

NYSED's Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBE-WL) has asked us to inquire with the districts in our region about where student registration takes place in each district.

This information will help OBE-WL to better support districts with the Mulitlingual Literacy Screener (MLS), which is used with students who are suspected of being Students with Interrupted/Inconsistent Formal Education (SIFE).

Please take a moment, regardless of your role in your district, and complete this survey no later than Monday, July 29. We anticipate multiple responses from districts as we know that many of our list serve subscribers may not access their email within the next few days.

NYSED has released 2019-2020 Title III Allocations, Allowable Expenditures, and Carry Over Limits. You may access that information here. Title III Immigrant Allocations should be released within the week.

We're excited to announce a new Hudson Valley RBERN ONLINE workshop:

Demystifying Our Diverse Students: Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education for ALL
Course Start Date: Monday, July 29, 2019
Course End Date: Wednesday, August 14, 2019

Educators that acknowledge, incorporate, and celebrate the whole child can provide access to a world many may view as impossible. This workshop will tap into actionable steps educators can take to provide access for all students. Participants MUST be enrolled by Thursday, July 25, 2019. Register in MLP here.

As a reminder, Hudson Valley educators working in bilingual programs and/or who are supporting bilingual students are encouraged to submit a breakout session workshop proposal at this link for the HV RBERN Bilingual Education Conference to be held on November 5, 2019.
