Important NYSED memo: Immigrant student count date changed to June 10, 2019.

Please see the memo below for an important policy change regarding the collection of immigrant students for 2019-20 ESSA Title III Immigrant Allocations.

The date for immigrant counts will move to June 10, 2019, replacing earlier guidance for counting on October 3, “BEDS Day.” The full NYSED memo can be viewed here.

As a reminder, immigrant children and youth are defined as individuals who: are aged 3 through 21; have not been attending school in any one or more States for more than three (3) full academic years; and were not born in any state.

NYSED released the Culturally Responsive-Sustaining (CR-S) Framework. This initiative establishes CR-S guidelines for seven different stakeholder groups. It was designed from the ground up and is the collective insight of parents, students, teachers, school and district leaders, higher education faculty, and community advocates.
